The Special Court, hearing the high treason trial, earlier today expressed fury over former president Gen. (retd) Pervaiz Musharraf’s departure to Dubai.
During today’s proceeding, the court asked the public prosecutor as to why Musharraf’s name was removed from Exit Control List (ECL).
The court issued show-cause notice to Major Gen. (retd) Rashid Qureshi, guarantor of former president and directed authorities concerned to produce Musharraf on April 19, otherwise the bail plea of the accused will be cancelled.
The special court also reprimanded the Home Secretary and asked if they were serious in proceedings of the case.
Justice Mazhar Alam asked the chief secretary, “Why did the government allow Musharraf to leave Pakistan and were they unaware the court had summoned him?”.
The secretary replied that it was personal responsibility of Musharraf to appear before the court for which he had personally assured.
He was allowed to go abroad on humanitarian basis, the secretary told the court.
