Sargodha: The Water and Power Ministry has directed Pakistan Water and Power Development Authority, WAPDA, to install smart meters at homes to avoid power theft in the Sargodha city.
Superintend Engineer Sargodha Sheikh Amil Hussain said that the decision has been taken after complaints of electricity theft were reported in the city. He said that the main cause of power outages in the city was, due to electricity theft and line loses. “The newly installed smart meters will help stop and overcome electricity theft, in the whole district,” said Hussain.
