The Sindh cabinet yesterday expressed satisfaction over the achievements made by the Sindh police and Karachi Rangers under the targeted operation against extremists, hit men, extortionists and kidnappers in Karachi and decided to further expedite the action against criminals with greater force.
Participants in a meeting chaired by Chief Minister Syed Qaim Ali Shah at Chief Minister House expressed their satisfaction over the security plan of the Sindh police under which Karachi had been divided into three zones and each zone supplied with a zonal quick response force unit.
The cabinet directed the police authorities for early purchase of bulletproof vests, helmets and vehicles for which funds had already been provided to them.
It also decided on early implementation of the safe and secure housing schemes for police personnel at or near police stations. The cabinet gave approval for recruitment of over 10,000 policemen in Sindh police this year and they would be trained by Pakistan army officers.
