A station house officer (SHO) Tipu Sultan Police Station has been arrested on charges of kidnapping two local traders.
According to SHO officials of Anti-Violent Crime Cell, Saleem Rajput was caught red-handed for seeking Rs 2 million ransom from family of two traders.
The Anti-Violent Crime Cell official added that Rajput had abducted two traders and later on demanded Rs 2 million to release them.
The official revealed that from the phone record it is also confirmed that Rajput called traders’ family member outside his police station to collect ransom money.
A case has also been registered against him.
Sources informed that Rajput was previously also found involved in criminal activities and was later suspended. He could now be dismissed from service, the source added.
