Sindh High Court has transferred the petition filed by Shahrukh Jatoi, the prime convict in Shahzeb Khan’s murder case, to the trial court.
Sindh High court has transferred Shahrukh Jatoi’s petition, seeking the countermand of proceedings related to illegal possession of weapons, to the trial court. The inquiry report is expected to be provided within three weeks.
On June 7, an anti-terrorism court had sentenced Jatoi to death upon finding him guilty of murdering Shahzeb Khan, the 20-year-old son of a police deputy superintendent. Also, he was sentenced to a three-year-jail term for illegal possession of weapons.
Co-accused in the case, Sajjad Talpur and Ghulam Murtaza Lashari were handed life imprisonment sentences.
Twenty-year-old Shahzeb Khan was gunned down on the night of December 24, 2012 on his way back home along with his sister after attending a wedding. He was murdered after having an argument with the suspects’ servants who had harassed his sister.
The family members of the convicts decided to file an appeal challenging the judgment of the court.
