The Pakistan cricket head coach, Waqar Younis has being snubbed by PCB Chairman Shaharyar Khan and Executive Committee head Najam Sethi.
Talking to media after meeting Chairman PCB and Executive Committee head, Waqar said “I came to PCB to meet Shaharyar Khan and Najam Sethi to complain about the leakage of my inquiry report,”
“Shaharyar Khan and Najam Sethi did not bother to meet me. I was sitting in the third room and was told by telephone that they cannot meet me. This is sheer humiliation,” he further added.
He alleged that PCB officials disclosed his confidential report to media “I personally went to Shaharyar Khan’s residence and handed over the report and requested him to keep it confidential,” he said.
“We have to clean up this dirty game being played in the PCB. I am being portrayed as a villain. Why was my report leaked?” he questioned.
“PCB has left me no choice except going to media. Whatever is happening is not right.”
To a question, Waqar Younis suggested that foreign coaches should be appointed to improve Pakistan’s cricket structure.
The head coach said that he would try to meet PCB Patron Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif.
He said that Imran Khan was like his father and well-wisher. “I meet Imran Khan whenever I get the chance,” Younis said.
Responding to Waqar Younis’ outburst, former captain Amir Sohail lamented the treatment meted out to the former great by PCB officials.
He called for the ouster of Shaharyar Khan, Najam Sethi, Intikhab Alam, Shakil Sheikh and Subhan Ahmed to save Pakistan’s cricket.
“There is need to launch a Zarb-e-Azh in cricket board also,” he said. –
