At least seven people were killed and 15 injured in a powerful explosion in Z-Block in DHA Lahore on Thursday.
According to initial details, the explosion occurred in Z-Block in DHA Lahore area in which seven people were killed and fifteen were injured.
The blast took place in a commercial market where there is usually considerable rush. Emergency was imposed in hospitals across Lahore to deal with the situation.
However, it could not be ascertained for sure as to what had caused the bomb blast. The intensity of the blast shattered windows of nearby buildings. Ambulances shifted the injured to the nearby General Hospital.
The government of Punjab tweeted that the blast had been caused as a result of a generator.
Rescue teams and police rushed to the scene and shifted the injured to hospitals where medics confirmed that seven people have died.
Punjab Law Minister Rana Sanaullah claimed that a bomb was planted inside an under construction building which had caused the blast. He confirmed that there were reports that a few people had been injured in the blast.
Police claimed that 8-10 kilograms of explosive material were used in the bomb blast. It was further disclosed by police that the bomb was placed inside the building and was detonated via a time device. It is feared that some people may still be trapped in the under construction building where the bomb had been placed.
