A Lahore High Court division bench has granted pre-arrest interim bail to Tanzeel-ur-Rehman, involved in Kasur child abuse scandal, till August 31.
The bench directed the accused to submit two surety bonds of Rs 200,000 to avail the bail.
The bench comprising Justice Muhammad Anwaar-ul-Haq and Justice Erum Sajjad Gull heard the case.
During the hearing, the petitioner’s counsel arguing before the court submitted that the police had nominated his client in four different cases registered in connection with the Kasur scandal.
He added that cases were registered based on mere statements that too after 15-months of the incident, whereas, no evidence was available against the accused.
Begging the court to grant the benefit of the bail to the accused, the counsel further said that his client wanted to join the ongoing investigations to prove his innocence.
The bench after hearing arguments granted pre-arrest bail to the accused till August 31 and sought record of the case from police.
Meanwhile, Justice Haq also granted protective bail to accused Tanzeel-ur-Rehman and directed him to approach the trial court by August 24.
The court directed the accused to submit two surety bonds of Rs 100,000 for the purpose. The court then passed the orders while disposing an application filed by the accused for the purpose.
The petitioner pleaded the court that he was innocent and wanted to appear in concerned court but fear arrest. He also pleaded with the court to grant protective bail to the suspect. (APP)
