Pakistan’s most decorated karate Saadi Abbas added another gold medal to his collection at the US Open Karate Championship in Las Vegas, according to the information released by the Pakistan Karate Federation here on Monday.
Saadi earned the gold in 67kg category, beating rivals from Guatemala, Greece and Ecuador before prevailing 4-2 in the final against J. Henry of the US in the final.
Saadi had previously earned gold medals at the 10th Asian Championships held in the Chinese city of Quanzhou in 2011, which made him the first South Asian gold medallist at the continental championship, and at the Commonwealth Championships in Johannesburg (2010) and Montreal (2013).
He has also won bronze in his weight category at the 11th Asian Championships in Tashkent and at last year’s edition in Dubai.
