The Supreme Court ear suspended an election tribunal’s decision to unseat Railways Minister Saad Rafique over alleged irregularities in the 2013 general election.
A three-member bench of Supreme Court, headed by Justice Anwar Zaheer Jamali, took up an appeal of PML-N leader Saad Rafique who had challenged the tribunal’s decision.
After hearing the minister’s petition, the court suspended the tribunal’s decision for four weeks and barred the election tribunal from holding by-election in NA-125 constituency of Lahore, the seat won by Saad Rafique in May 2013
