Karachi: A local court on Thursday extended till June 8 the physical remand of Chief Executive Officer (ECO) of Axact, the IT company accused of running fake degree empire, Shoaib Shaikh and eight others accused after they were produced by Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) authorities.
FIA investigators produced the nine accused before Judicial Magistrate South in the City Court where FIA official requested the court to extend the remand for further investigation.
The judge accepted FIA’s plea and extended the remand of Axact bosses till June 8.
During the hearing, the investigators stated that four more accused have been arrested in connection with the scandal, and that more documents have been recovered from their possession.
A large number of Axact employees were present in the court during Shoaib Shaikh appearance. They chanted slogans against FIA authorities.
Shaikh was taken into custody last week.
