The Sindh Rangers earlier yesterday conducted a raid at the University of Karachi (KU) and detained at least five people from the Admin Block to interrogate into the killing of a student.
According to official sources, a contingent of Rangers raided the Admin Block, closed the entry and exit ways and began searching in different rooms of the Admin Block. The Rangers personnel arrested five employees of Accounts Department.
They were identified as Naveed Siddiqui, Audit officer; Account Clerk Zohaib, account officer Zeeshah Ameen, Rehan and Librarian Shani Mehmood Hussain.
KU Security Advisor Khalid Iraqi has confirmed Rangers raid and arrest of five employees.
Sources said Rangers had also raided the admin block eight months back and detained Zeeshan Ameen for interrogation, however, Naveed Siddiqui had managed to flee Raiwand.
The arrested KU employees are accused of killing a student in 2007.
