Lahore: Punjab government announced Punjab province for the fiscal year 2015-16.
Punjab Finance Minister Dr Ayesha Ghaus Pasha on Friday presented the annual budget of Punjab province for the fiscal year 2015-16 in provincial assembly.
Earlier, the Punjab cabinet approved the budget proposals for the next fiscal year at a meeting chaired by Chief Minister Shahbaz Sharif in Lahore.
The key highlights of the fiscal budget 2015-16 are as follows
- The provincial government revenue target of Rs. 160bn from provincial taxes and other sources.
- The government has allocated Rs 400 billion for development works and Rs 733 billion for non-developmental expenditure.
- The government has proposed a 7.5 percent increase in salaries and pensions of Punjab government employees.
- The proposed minimum wage of private sector workers would be Rs 13,000.
- The provincial government has set aside Rs 310bn for education, which is almost 27% increase than last year
- The provincial government has allocated Rs 166bn for health, Rs 117bn for rural development, Rs 105bn for expenditure on construction of roads and bridges, and Rs 87bn for the provincial police department.
- The Punjab government is proposed Rs 31bn to end the power crisis, and Rs 17bn to develop the Multan metro bus project.
- The Punjab government has also allocated Rs 2bn for the development of a cardiac hospital and education in Balochistan province.
