The Supreme Court (SC) has decided to form a commission having powers as that of the apex court to probe the Panama Leaks issue.
The SC full bench, headed by Chief Justice Anwar Zaheer Jamali, also directed the family of Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif to submit their reply in two days and adjourned the hearing till Nov 3, 11:30 am.
The court asked the petitioners to file their terms of references and in case there’s a conflict, the SC will formulate its own ToRs. A judge of the Supreme Court will head the commission.
After the hearing, PTI’s Naeemul Haq said the party has no plan to call off protests scheduled for Nov 2. Thousands of workers are reaching Islamabad and Rawalpindi to exercise their right of protest, he added.
A 5-member larger bench of the Supreme Court, comprising Chief Justice Anwar Zaheer Jamali, Justice Asif Saeed Khosa, Justice Amir Hani Muslim, Justice Sheikh Azmat Saeed and Justice Ijazul Hassan, is hearing the petitions filed by PTI Chairman Imran Khan, Awami Muslim League (AML) chief Sheikh Rashid Ahmed and Advocate Tariq Asad.
