Islamabad: Pakistan Islamic Medical Association (PIMA) Prevention of Blindness (POB) Trust is planning to establish Eye Care Institute for prevention and control of blindness and visual impairment.
Talking to APP on Wednesday, Spokesman PIMA said 50,000 patients would be facilitated with free of cost check annually in free eye camps in the country while 5,000 surgeries would also be conducted annually. He said that the Trust endeavors to develop strategies for prevention and control of blindness and visual impairment. The prime objective of POB Trust is to promote and sustain a global campaign against all forms of avoidable blindness with emphasis on deprived communities.
This initiative brings with it a great challenge and an exciting hope for all who work towards this goal. POB Trust is playing a pivotal role in holding free eye camps at national and international level to render diagnostic and surgical services in far-flung areas. The Trust is also striving towards human resource mobilization, training workshops and advocacy with all stakeholders.
