Taking notice of acute shortage of petrol in Punjab, Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif today convened an urgent meeting of top officials at Lahore airport on his return from Saudi Arabia where he had gone to meet the ailing Saudi King.
The prime minister directed all the provincial governments to stop black marketing of petrol in their respective provinces.
He asked officials concerned to accelerate supply of petrol to overcome the crisis.
Later, Prime Minister Sharif ordered that four top officials responsible for the petroleum crisis be suspended.
According to sources, he ordered the suspension of MD PSO Amjad Janjua, DG Oil Muhammad Azam, Secretary Petroleum Abid Saeed and Additional Secretary Petroleum Naeem Malik.
