International Labour Day will be marked across Pakistan today (Friday).
In different cities trade union bodies, workers confederations, and civil society organisations to stage major rallies for the rights of labourers.
In Punjab, Punjab Chief Minister, Shahbaz Sharif to announce Labour Policy of 2014 on this pivotal day in the history of labour movements.
Government offices and private businesses will also remained off as a token of appreciation for the services rendered to their employers.
It to be noted that the historic day has its roots in the emergence of trade unions as representatives of employees in 18th century Britain where growing industrialisation led large number of men, women and children to work in factories.
