National Disaster Management Authority (NDMA) Chairman, Major General Muhammad Saeed has said that Pakistan could handle the civilian population migrating from North Waziristan Agency itself and no request had been made so far to any other countryor organisation the including United Nations.
Talking to Voice Of America (VOA), he said all concerned institutions were in contact with each other as far as the issue of Internally Displaced Persons (IDPs) was concerned.
He added that the government had established refugee camps for IDPs and announced incentives but few of them preferred to live with their relatives or hire houses instead of going to refugee camps.
Saeed said IDPs needed medicine, clean drinking water, houses and food items adding that NMDA was providing them these facilities
