Government of Pakistan has allowed former President General (Retd) Pervez Musharraf to go to Saudi Arabia to condole the demise of King Abdullah Bin Abdulaziz Al-Saud.
Earlier on Friday, Musharraf, in a written request, had requested the Ministry of Interior to lift a travel ban for just one day so that he could fly to Saudi Arabia and pay his commiseration to the royal family in person. The interior ministry has forwarded a recommendation to Prime Minister Mian Nawaz Sharif, who approved the request on humanitarian basis after conferring with his advisers.
According to sources in the ministry, government has decided to allow former President a day’s slack so that he could travel to Riyadh.
Moreover, Chief Minister Mian Shahbaz Sharif had also taken Saudi embassy and other higher officials of the Kingdom in confidence with regard to Musharraf’s request and the former dictator was given permission to visit Saudi Arabia.
