Prime Minister Muhammad Nawaz Sharif reiterated that the government had no option but to eliminate terrorism from the country.
Sharif chairing a high level meeting of the Apex Committee (AC) of Sindh Governor House, Karachi to review the progress on the implementation of National Action Plan and discuss matters related to overall law and order situation in the province, he said, “the National Action Plan was approved by the entire political leadership and the ultimate decision of the state was to eliminate terrorism from the country”.
He further added that two of the 20 points of NAP were implemented immediately while rest of the measures had been left upto the Apex Committees formed in all provinces. The provinces are holding meetings of their respective Apex Committees on regular basis to assess the implementation process.
He said some of the provinces were taking swift action to implement NAP while a lot of work is yet to be done by other provinces.
Sharif said under NAP, the 21st constitutional amendment was passed and Army Act was also amended adding the country’s future and security were linked to NAP’s implementation.
He said the meeting should be briefed about all problems being faced by the law enforcement agencies to help find their solutions.
Talking about JIT Baldia report Sharif said the Baldia Town factory fire was a grave incident.
Former President Asif Ali Zardari, Chief of Army Staff General Raheel Sharif, DG ISI Lt. General Rizwan Akhter, Governor Sindh Dr Ishratul Ibad, Chief Minister Syed Qaim Ali Shah, Corps Commander 5 Corps Lt. General Naveed Mukhtar, Sindh cabinet members Sharjeel Memon and Murad Ali Shah, Home Secretary Sindh, Secretary Interior and IG Sindh were also present in the meeting among other senior officers.
