National Bank of Pakistan (NBP) President Saeed Ahmed has alleged the Joint Investigation Team (JIT) for misconduct and violation of the Bench’s recent order.
The NBP president has written a letter to the Supreme Court registrar over the alleged mistreatment by the JIT, probing money trail and offshore properties of the Sharif family in line with Panamgate verdict
The exact nature of threats or undue pressure was omitted on the pretext that the questions and their relevance to the investigation were confidential matters.
Ahmad, in his letter, has alleged that the JIT members of misbehaving with him while accusing their behavior towards him as threatening and abusive.
Putting his grievance forward, the NBP President opined that he was interrogated as if he was a death sentence convict.
He also complained of grilling for over 12 hours by the JIT in three [consecutive] sessions during which he was made to wait for five hours after the first session.
In its order of May 29 disposing of the application filed on behalf of Hussain Nawaz Sharif, the Supreme Court had ordered: “We direct JIT to proceed with the matter strictly in accordance with law by paying due regard to human dignity. This, we think, is sufficient to cover all concerns of the applicant.”
