Karachi: As part of election campaign in Karachi’s NA-246 constituency, Jamaat-e-Islami (JI) is going to hold a mass meeting of its women wing today.
By-election in the National Assembly constituency is scheduled for April 23.
Three major political parties in the fray – Muttahida Qaumi Movement (MQM), Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) and JI – are running their aggressive election campaign to win the seat vacated by MQM’s former MNA Nabil Gabol.
Reports said JI is organizing a public gathering of its women supporters today at Sharah-e-Pakistan, five days after a large rally in MQM’s home ground, Azizabad.
Today’s rally will be addressed by JI chief Siraj-ul-Haq and party candidate from NA-246, Rashid Nasim.
MQM will show political mussels on Saturday with a large public gathering in Liaqatabad for which arrangements were being finalised. On the occasion, MQM chief Altaf Hussain will address his supporters from London.
Imran Khan’s ‘tsunami’ will also hit the city on April 19.
The party has planned a large public gathering at Aisha Manzil where Imran Khan and his wife Reham Khan will address thousands of their supporters.
PTI has yet to decide whether or not to withdraw candidate in favour of JI to save the anti-MQM vote from division.
