Mobile phone services has been partially suspended in major cities across the country on Saturday ahead of 9th and 10th Muharram processions.
Processions of 9th Muharram honouring Imam Hussain (AS) and the martyrs of Karbala are being taken out today across various cities in Pakistan on Saturday.
Sindh:
Cellular services were suspended in parts of Karachi, Hyderabad, Sukkur, Shaheed Benazirabad, Khaipur, Larkana, Shikarpur and Jacobabad.
The main procession in Karachi starts from Nishtar Park today and will culminate at Hussainian Iranian imambargah in Kharadar.
Karachi police has sealed all the streets and roads linked to MA Jinnah Road with shipping containers.
A large number of police and paramilitary troops have been deployed on the route of the main procession.
Islamabad
The main procession will be taken out from Imambargah Asna Ashri G-6/2. In Lahore, the procession will be taken out from Pando Street in Lahore and after passing through several places, will conclude at the same location.
In Islamabad, three routes will be created for mourners to enter and take part in the main procession.
Metro bus services have also been suspended in Rawalpindi and Islamabad on 9th and 10th Muharram.
Other Cities
The main procession of 9th Muharram has begun in Lahore, Peshawar, Quetta and other cities , as authorities finalised foolproof security arrangements ahead of the 9th and 10th Muharram processions.
Mobile phone services had also been partially suspended in different parts of Lahore, Peshawar, Quetta on Friday.
The government has already banned pillion riding in Karachi, Quetta and Peshawar in wake of Ashura security.
