The district administration has set up 32 relief camps while Rescue 1122 shifted 1300 people to safer places as the medium flood situation persisted in the mighty Indus river.
DCO Rajanpur Zahoor Hussain visited the flood affected areas and ordered the rescue teams to continue relief and rescue operations in the district, says an official release.
The DCO said that Army had not been called so far to assist the administration as the Indus river was still experiencing medium level flood.
He, however, added that help from Pakistan Army would be sought in case the flood level rises above 500,000 cusec in Indus river.
Embankments of river Indus and Spur Bund have been strengthened and all arrangements were ready to mitigate sufferings of the flood affected communities.
Dozens of teams of rescuers were busy in rescuing people from low lying areas of riverine belt in Rajanpur district at six different points, DCO said.
Water flow from hill torrents was decreasing gradually, however, the Spur for safety of people and rural settlements against hill torrents has also been fortified at Hajipur, DCO
added.
No casualty has so far been reported in the wake of the on-going flood situation and land links among different areas in Rajanpur district were intact.
Heavy machinery and rescuers stand deployed to cope with any emergency situation while ban has been imposed on bathing in river Indus at Kot Mithan Sharif and operation of boats by
untrained people.
Arrangements were ready to provide clean drinking water, food and health facilities to flood affected people at the 32 relief camps.
Flash floods likely in Punjab, KPK, Balochistan, Kashmir:
A deluge of 500,000 to 550,000 cusecs is likely to pass through the river Indus at Guddu from July 24 to July 26.
It was warned in the latest Meteorological & Hydrological conditions observed by Flood Forecasting Division Lahore here on Wednesday.
It informed that River Indus at Sukkur is also likely to be in High flood level ranging between 500,000 cusecs to 540,000 cusecs during the period from 1200 PST of July 25 to 2359 PST of July 27, 2015.
The department has also directed to all departments concerned to take all possible precautionary measures to avoid any danger.
On the other hand, Pakistan meteorological Department has also informed that due to unstable weather conditions and significant monsoon rains there would be risk of flash floods in local streams and nullahs of Punjab, upper KPK, eastern Balochistan and Kashmir during next 3 days.
The department advised the people living in low lying areas along the streams and nullahs to remain careful during next 2 days. (APP)
