The Lahore University of Management Sciences (LUMS) earlier today, categorically denied reports that a student from the educational institution has been arrested on terrorism charges.
The Director General (DG) Administration Amir Khan stated that “no arrest was made.”
The statement from LUMS also appeared on the Facebook pageof LUMS Students and Alumni Action Committee (LSAAC).
“The student in question is a hostelite, currently in LUMS. He is not a graduate nor is his father an army officer as claimed by the news outlets,” said the post from LSAAC.
The post further stated that the student council and the administration of LUMS will fully cooperate with law enforcement agencies if the need arises.
LSAAC referred to the news reports as “irresponsible journalism by news agencies.”
Earlier, reported that three suspects, including a student of a private university, were picked up by law-enforcement agencies in connection with the recent attack on an airbase in India.
Some television new channels had reported the arrest quoting intelligence agencies.
