Layyah Police earlier today conducted raids and managed to nab five accused including the factory owner after the death toll from highly toxic sweets in Layyah climbed to 26. On a tip-off, police raided a Sulfonylurea factory located at Chowk Azam and arrested the owner and four others.
The cops also seized a huge quantity of prohibited Sulfonylurea and sealed off the factory.
The accused have been shifted to undisclosed location.
At least 26 people have died so far after eating poisonous sweets in Layyah on April 20 while over 20 others also are still admitted in the hospital.
