Chief Justice of Pakistan (CJP) Justice Mian Saqib Nisar said that the judiciary did not want a confrontation with anyone.
Addressing the Islamabad High Court Bar, the CJP said “We are trying to provide the common man with his rights,” he said. “I am not fighting with anyone. We are fighting for those who are deprived of their rights and do not have the strength to demand them,”
” The judiciary is not seeking a confrontation or clash with anyone”. CJP added
The chief justice said that he would try to wrap up all references by June. He said that so far the Supreme Court has heard and decided 43 references.
Urging lawyers to reach the pinnacle of their profession, Justice Saqib Nisar said that he had promised to ensure that justice was upheld in Pakistan.
Before concluding his speech, the chief justice said that every individual is responsible for ensuring that his respect and dignity remains intact.
“Let me tell you that three things destroy the decision-making ability of a judge; personal interest, compromise and fear.”
Justice Saqib Nisar said that a judge should issue verdicts without fear, then only can the rule of law prevail in a country.
In the end, he cautioned lawyers against disturbing the peace or resorting to violence in his name.
