Islamabad police have arrested Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) worker while they were attending a youth convention at a private marquee in Islamabad on Thursday evening.
PTI leader Asad Umar while talking to the media said, “State injustice cannot stop us from protesting and the government is afraid of PTI’s democratic protest”.
Asad was of the view that there is no democracy in Pakistan.
“Government has proved that there is no democracy in Pakistan, rather it is a monarchy,” he said.
PTI vice-chairman Shah Mehmood Qureshi said police had no right to arrest peaceful PTI workers who were not engaged in any unlawful activity and only attending party’s youth convention.
“This is the worst dictatorship. Under which law are our peaceful and unarmed activists being arrested and baton charged?,” he questioned legality of the crackdown from the government.
He said the government’s behavior had unveiled its true face.
A large number of police thronged the area and unleashed baton-charge indiscriminately hurting unarmed women, men and media persons.
Qureshi said nothing could stop them now, nothing would ever stop the nation now, the nation would rid Pakistan of Nawaz Sharif’s dictatorship.
“We reject this monarch Sharif, we reject dictatorship, our fight will continue till the beginning of a true democracy,” he said.
The PTI leader said when he and his other party leader, Asad Umar, reached there, they were beating PTI women and young boys.
