Federal Interior Minister Chaudhry Nisar issued orders earlier yesterday to award nationality to the widow of a Pakistani national according to the legal procedures, after taking notice of a letter from her.
A ministry spokesperson said her application for getting the Pakistani citizenship had been pending with the ministry since 2008.
The woman got married with a Pakistani citizen years ago. The man later died and his stepsons allegedly deprived the woman of her share in the property left behind by her husband. She applied for nationality in 2008.
The widow had appealed to the interior minister for help after being deprived of her share of property and against the alleged injustices meted out to her by her stepsons.
The interior minister has ordered the widow be immediately granted the nationality under the relevant rules and regulations.
Nisar also ordered the authorities concerned to take action against the people who had been allegedly denying the woman of her due rights.
