India’s most wanted man Dawood Ibrahim is suffering from an advanced case of gangrene, and his legs may even have to be amputated, claims Indian media reports. According to doctors treating the gangster, his gangrene is at a highly advanced stage, and hence there is a great risk of him having to lose both his legs.
The report further claimed that an immobile Dawood is being treated somewhere in Karachi. Pakistan has always denied his presence on its sole. It is being stated that Dawood has been laid low by gangrene due to his high blood pressure and blood sugar.
On the contrary, Dawood’s trusted aide Chhota Shakeel told Time of India that Bhai is ‘fit’. Terming the reports as rumours to obstruct D-company’s business interests, Shakeel was quoted by the paper as saying, “Aapki agencies ke pass galat khabar hai. Ye sab rumours hain. Bhai bilkul fit hain. Sehatmand hain (Your agencies have wrong information. Dawood is perfectly fit).”
Now in his 60s, Dawood is wanted in connection with the 1993 Mumbai blasts which claimed over 257 lives, and injured more than 700. One of Dawood’s associates, Yakub Memon was hanged in July 2015, while his brother Tiger, also wanted in the case, is still absconding.
Another media report suggests as quoting a former Police Officer Shamsher Khan Pathan that Chota Shakeel is likely to be Dawood’s successor since he is very aggressive, adding that he is “doubtful about his health”.
