India’s military has claimed to have carried out “surgical strikes” along the de facto border with Pakistan in Kashmir.
Lieutenant General Ranbir Singh, the army’s director-general of military operations, said in reference to the unofficial border in divided Kashmir “Some terrorist teams had positioned themselves at launchpads along the Line of Control,”
“The Indian army conducted surgical strikes last night at these launchpads. Significant casualties have been caused to these terrorists and those who are trying to support them,” he told reporters in New Delhi.
Pakistan Army has denied the Indian general’s claim about surgical strikes, saying that no such strike was carried out; instead, India violated the ceasefire with cross-border firing that martyred two Pakistani soldiers.
“It was a false statement by Indian army to create a wrong perception. Pakistani troops will give a befitting response if such strikes will be carried out,” ISPR said in a statement. – (PhotoNews/AFP)
