A six-member Scotland Yard team has arrived in Pakistan to meet with senior officials of the Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) with regard to the Imran Farooq murder case.
According to details, the Scotland Yard team arrived in Islamabad today morning and are expected to visit FIA headquarters today. The Scotland Yard police team will discuss the Imran Farooq murder case with FIA officials.
Sources have disclosed that the process of collecting and confirming evidence is an ongoing one between Pakistan and England. Scotland Yard has come to Pakistan to share evidence and relevant knowledge pertaining to the case with FIA officials. The Scotland Yard team will also discuss their money laundering investigation with Pakistani authorities.
Dr Imran Farooq was a key leader of the Muttahida Quami Movement (MQM) who had fled from Pakistan and sought political asylum in UK, after the 1992 operation against MQM. Dr Imran Farooq was murdered on September 16, 2010 outside his residence in London. British police revealed that he had been stabbed to death by a knife and also attacked with a brick.
The two prime suspects in the Imran Farooq murder case are Mohsin Ali Syed and Kashif Kamran Khan. MQM chief Altaf Hussain had strongly condemned Dr Farooq’s murder and called for the immediate arrest of his killers.
