Police Chief, A.D. Khowaja has refused to give charge to acting IG Sardar Abdul Majeed Dasti until he get the confirmation from the Establishment Division.
The Sindh government on Saturday evening appointed Sardar Abdul Majeed Dasti as the acting police chief without waiting for the approval of A.D. Khowaja’s transfer from the federal government.
The police spokesman, in a statement, said Sardar Abdul Majeed Dasti has started dealing with departmental affairs as the IGP Sindh, in addition to his duties as the Additional IGP, Research, Development, Inspections and Enquiries.
Earlier on Friday, the provincial government had surrendered the services of Allah Dino Khawaja and had recommended three officers for consideration as his replacement.
Responding to this, Khowaja refused to leave the IG’s Office before the issuance of a notification by the federal government, claiming that he was appointed by the Federation and won’t leave charge until asked by the Centre.
A.D. Khowaja had earlier been sent on forced leave couple of months ago by the PPP government reportedly because of differences on appointments in the force and investigation about SSP Malir Rao Anwaar.
Analyst Mazhar Abbas told The News that AD Khowaja is an upright officer and the PPP is unhappy with him on several issues. ‘They had tried to remove him earlier as well because he refused to accept the pressure.
