Islamabad: Islamabad, Rawalpindi and adjoining areas experienced heavy downpour on Monday as Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD) forecast more rain for today.
On Sunday, storms and torrential rains struck various cities of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, leaving at least 45 people dead and crippling civic life.
The rain continued in Punjab and northwestern upper parts today.
Islamabad, Rawalpindi and adjoining areas experienced heavy downpour that broke the prevailing heat wave and turned weather pleasant, but also affected flight schedule in the twin cities.
Besides heavy rain, hailstorm also hit Rawalpindi city.
Met Office said widespread rain and thundershowers coupled with gusty winds are likely to occur in Peshawar, Mardan, Malakand division, Hazara division, Kashmir and Gilgit-Baltistan during next 12 to 24 hours.
Hot and dry weather will prevail elsewhere in the country, PMD said.
