The government has taken on the agenda of development and reform with strong commitment and leadership specifically focusing on plans for energy and poverty eradication, Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif said yesterday.
Talking to World Bank Managing Director Sri Mulyani Indrawati on the sidelines of the London Conference, the premier said the government was trying to turn Pakistan’s challenges into opportunities through sound economic planning, good governance and consistency in policy implementation.
WB Executive Director Nasir Mahmood Khosa was also present during the meeting.
Indrawati also delivered a letter to the prime minister from WB President Jim Kim offering assistance for polio and other immunisation programmes in Pakistan. The World Bank also offered support for internally displaced persons and flood victims.
Prime Minister Sharif appreciated the World Bank for helping Pakistan in policy-based support for strengthening the business environment.
