Pakistan was the ninth largest recipient of workers remittances in 2013, with net inflows of about $15bn. In the first nine months (July-March) of the current fiscal year, it has received about $11.6bn in remittances, up 12pc from $10.354bn in the same period of last year.
If the pace continues, the country could expect up to $15.5bn at the end of the current fiscal.
But there are fears in official circles that like textile exports, a strong rebound in the exchange rate in recent weeks could have a negative impact on this trend.
