Pakistan has lodged strong protest with Afghanistan over cross-border attack by militants at the military check post in Lower Dir.
The Afghan Charge d’Affaires was summoned to the Foreign Office (FO) and strong protest was lodged. The FO once again demanded of the Afghan authorities to take effective steps to stop the use of Afghan territory for repeated cross-border fire and physical attacks by terrorists.
Some 70 to 80 terrorists had stormed at Pakistani check post in Lower Dir. The Pakistani troops immediately repulse the attack and killed six terrorists and injured nine more.
“It was emphasised again that a time when Pakistan is undertaking a monumental effort against terrorists and their hideouts through the launch of Operation Zarb-e-Azb, all possible cooperation is extended by the Afghan side and measures taken by them to eliminate terrorist sanctuaries on Afghan territory,” a press release issued by FO said.
