The national airliner has started its Hajj operation and the first flight carrying Hajj pilgrims from Karachi left for Saudi Arabia, on Thursday.
The first two flights of PIA flew from Karachi and Lahore to Jeddah, reports said.
According to a spokesman of PIA, Boeing 777 and Jumbo 747 aircrafts being used in Hajj operation of the national airlines. Over 53,000 Hajj pilgrims will be transported to the holy land through 116 flights, spokesman said.
The Hajj operation being carried out from Quaid-e-Azam International Airport instead of the Old Terminal due to security concerns after recent terrorist attack at Karachi airport, sources said.
