The Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) has formed a four-member team to probe the allegations of the Panama Joint Investigation Team (JIT) for tampering of record against the Securities and Exchange Commission of Pakistan (SECP).
The three-judge special bench of the Supreme Court – constituted to oversee implementation on the Panamagate case verdict – had directed the FIA director-general to probe the allegations. FIA’s acting director-general Ahmed Latif forwarded four names to the interior ministry for approval.
FIA Director Maqsoodul Hassan has been suggested as head of the four-member team, comprising deputy directors Hazrat Ali, Tahir Tanveer and Ayaz Khan as members.
Panama JIT leveled allegation that SECP officials have tempered record to facilitate the ruling family.
