A parliamentary committee asked the Employees Old-age Benefits Institution (EOBI) to enhance its pension to at least Rs6,000 per month, on Monday.
At present, a pension of Rs3,600 per month is paid to aged people who have served in government and private organisations, and have crossed the age of 60 years.
The National Assembly’s Standing Committee on Overseas Pakistanis and Human Resource Development met at the Parliament House to discuss the functions and performance of EOBI.
Member of National Assembly (MNA) Mir Amir Ali Khan Magsi presided over the meeting.
