Electronic transactions, including web-based, point of sale (POS), mobile and call centre transactions, showed a rising trend during the first quarter of 2014-15 compared to same period of FY14.
Meanwhile a decrease in paper based and automated teller machines (ATMs) cash transactions was observed, a State Bank report on payment systems statistics said on Thursday.
The report for the first quarter of fiscal year 2014-15 said that paper based transactions decreased by 6.5 per cent in terms of volume and 7pc in terms of value, whereas Internet, POS, mobile and call center transactions have increased by 8.2pc, 8.3pc, 14.6pc and 20.9pc in terms of volume and 3.5pc, 16.3pc, 16.4pc and 1.89pc in terms of value respectively.
The data further revealed that ATM transactions decreased by 3.1pc in volume, while value has shown insignificant increase of 0.03pc. Moreover, non-financial transactions increased from 50 million to 54m showing a growth rate of 7.8pc as compared to previous quarter.
