The Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) has directed the Pakistan-Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) to appoint a new party chief.

The Political Parties Order 2002, a disqualified parliamentarian could no longer continue holding the office of a party’s head.

PML-N chief Nawaz Sharif was disqualified by the Supreme Court over his failure to disclose his ‘un-withdrawn receivables, constituting assets’ in his nomination papers filed ahead of the 2013 general elections.

Under the Political Parties Order 2002, a disqualified parliamentarian could no longer continue holding the office of a party’s head.
