Domestic sales of cement increased while exports decreased during the first five months of this fiscal year compared to the same period last year.
According to the data released by All Pakistan Cement Manufacturers Association (APCMA), despatches to domestic markets increased by 9.39 per cent while exports decreased by 2pc during July to November 2014.
The overall situation during first five months of current fiscal year showed a healthy growth of 6.35pc compared to the same period of last fiscal year though the cement sector continued struggling against ever increasing input costs, especially electricity and shortage of gas, while facing accusations of tax evasion, a spokesperson for APCMA said yesterday.
