The Defence Minister Khwaja Asif was dissatisfied with Pakistan Electronic Media Regulatory Authority’s (PEMRA) decision against Geo News. PEMRA had slapped a 10 million rupee fine and 15 day day ban on Geo News on charges of defaming the army and the ISI.
The minister has vowed to appeal the decision seeking extension in Geo News punishment.
The military sources said that Pakistan Army was targeted despite being in state of war.
The military sources asked “who will give answer to the campaign that has been going on against army and ISI for the last few weeks? What were the motives of those who targeted chief of the country’s prime intelligence agency? Whom did they serve by maligning the image of security institutions?
Army’s struggle and sacrifices in war against terrorism are known to everyone. Army is bound to follow constitutional responsibilities and protect country’s borders”.
