Daily Dawn News journalist Cyril Almeida has been put on the Exit Control List (ECL) after his controversial report in Dawn newspaper on a recent meeting between government and military bigwigs.

Almeida, Dawn News’s assistant editor, tweeted on Twitter.“I am told and have been informed and have been shown evidence that I am on the Exit Control List,”

In a series of tweets he said ‘Was a long-planned trip, for at least several months now. There are certain things that I will never, ever forgive. I feel sad tonight. This is my life, my country. What went wrong. Puzzled, saddened. Had no intention of going anywhere; this is my home. Pakistan,”
In controversial story, Almeida, had claimed rifts between the country’s civilian and military leaderships and exchange of words between the Punjab chief minister, Shehbaz Sharif and the ISI chief.

Almeida was booked on a Tuesday morning flight to Dubai for a long-planned holiday with members of his family but received word on Monday evening that he would not be allowed to board the plane.
