The Counter Terrorism Department (CTD) killed four suspected terrorists in a shootout in Manawan, Lahore.
According to CTD sources, in a targeted operation on a tip off regarding presence of the suspects accused of staging attack on Sri Lankan cricket team and a bomb blast in Moon Market that killed over 50 people in 2009.
The suspects opened fire on CTD officials as they raided their hideout. Four suspects were killed and three others managed to flee in the ensuing shootout.
The slain terrorists were identified as Zubair alias Naik Mohammad, Abdul Wahab, Adnan Arshad and Ateeq-ur-Rehman. Their bodies were shifted to a morgue after the encounter.
CTD officials stated the four terrorists were involved in 2008 Moon Market suicide explosion and the attack on Sri Lankan cricket team attack in 2009.
Laptops, prohibited literature and large cache of explosives were also seized during the raid.
