Quetta: An accountability court granted an additional 14-day remand of former Balochistan Finance Secretary Mushtaq Raisani to NAB authorities.
Mushtaq Raisani had been arrested on May 6 on charges of being involved in corruption in the departments of treasury and local government. NAB authorities had claimed that Rs. 630 million had been recovered from Raisani’s house. NAB had sought a 14-day remand for Raisani from the accountability court, which had been granted.
Upon expiry of the remand today, the suspect was presented before the accountability court today. During proceedings, NAB authorities requested an additional 14-day remand be granted for Raisani, which was accepted by the court and the suspect was handed over to NAB authorities for fourteen more days.
On the other hand, another suspect arrested in the same case named Nadeem Iqbal, was also presented before the court today. NAB authorities also sought and received a 14-day remand for the accused as well. Nadeem Iqbal was working as an accountant at the Municipal Committee of Khaliqabad.
Both suspects, Raisani and Iqbal will be presented before the courts on June 2, 2016.
