A condemned prisoner was executed at Kot Lakhpat Jail here in the early hours of Tuesday.
According to jail sources, Mukhtar Ahmad was hanged after fulfilling medical and legal requirements in the presence of judicial magistrate.
Mukhtar Ahmad has been hanged for killing Abdul Razzaq in 2004 in limits of Lytton Road Police Station here.
District and Sessions Judge Lahore Tariq Iftikhar had issued death warrants of Mukhtar Ahmad after dismissal of his mercy appeals.
Meanwhile, the Jail authorities has stopped execution of condemned prisoner Khizar Hayat on receiving a stay order of a Lahore High Court division bench. The bench had suspended death warrants of Khizar Hayat on a petition filed by his mother with a plea to set aside his death warrants as he was mentally ill.
Khizar was a police constable and was arrested for killing a fellow cop. Shadbagh police had arrested him in October 2001 and the trial court awarded him death sentence in 2003. (APP)
