Chief Minister (CM) of Punjab Shahbaz Sharif will meet Pakistan Blind Association today (Thursday) at Model Town in Lahore.
Punjab government has decided to raise the quota of blinds from two percent to three percent and has also assured them of the protection of their rights at any cost.
Officials of special education and other relevant departments have also been called on for the meeting.
According to details, contractual employment should be given to blind persons whereas government employees may be given permanent status.
Earlier, yesterday the police baton charged disabled persons as they tried to proceed to Chief Minister’s Secretariat on International Day for Persons with Disabilities to protest against lack of availability of facilities. Chief Minister Punjab Shahbaz Sharif took notice of the incident and ordered the suspension of the officers involved in beating up the disabled persons.
