The new ambassador of China to Pakistan, Yao Jing Monday paid a courtesy call on Chairman of Parliamentary Committee on CPEC Senator Mushahid Hussain at the Parliament House.
Senator Mushahid Hussain warmly welcomed Yao Jing and said, “Ambassador Yao Jing is an old friend of Pakistan, having served here on two occasions in the past and knows Pakistan and the region very well,” a press release said.
He hoped that during his tenure, Pakistan-China relations would be further consolidated and CPEC would make more rapid progress.
Ambassador Yao Jing termed Senator Mushahid Hussain as “an old friend of China” and thanked him for his contribution to Pakistan-China relations, especially in the building of CPEC.
He hoped that in 2018 CPEC would enter a ‘new era’ of all round development, and expansion of CPEC to include Afghanistan and Central Asia.
Senator Mushahid Hussain said CPEC was all about cooperation and connectivity, not just between Pakistan and China but also among the countries of the region including Afghanistan and Central Asia.
He also invited Ambassador Yao Jing to meet with the Parliamentary Committee on CPEC at a mutually convenient time, and this invitation was accepted with pleasure.
